The Planetary Society invites you to attend a free lecture by Dr. Chris McKay,

planetary scientist at NASA Ames Research Center, who will lecture on the exciting yoyage

of NASA's recently launched (August 4, 2007) Phoenix Mars Lander, which will

arrive at Mars in late May 2008.  The lander's mission is to claw down into the

icy soil of the Red Planet's northern plains.  The robot will investigate whether

frozen water near the Martian surface might periodically melt enough to sustain a

livable environment for microbes.
